Summary

"You rescued me from a world without sound。 If it wasn't for you, I never would've known the world was such an amazing place!" Because of a hearing disability, university student Kohei had made a habit of distancing himself from those around him。 But after meeting the exceedingly cheerful Taichi, he gradually begins to embrace a more positive outlook on life。 Kohei eventually begins to see Taichi as more than a friend, and after he finally confesses his love to Taichi, the feelings become mutual。 In this new addition to the I Hear the Sunspot series, Kohei continues on as a student, while Taichi makes his way out into the working world to pursue his own calling and the two begin a new life together!

These sweet anxious gay babies are giving me indigestion。 Want to wrap them in a protective bubble and save them from the world。

Usually "show, not tell" is good advice, but in this case it's a good thing Fumino is always telling us Kohei is super hot because he's just not that different from the other characters as far as I can see。It's kind of drag to hit the part of the story that involves manufactured drama to keep the leads apart。Are we ever going to see Taichi's granddad's face or can no one draw an old guy? This definitely starts to trend toward more typical romance novel hijinks, including "please just talk to each other。" I don't particularly like Fumino's "I'll introduce an antagonist each volume to move things along" technique, but like her editor, I'm happy to see the romance part of this progressing。 This definitely starts to trend toward more typical romance novel hijinks, including "please just talk to each other。" I don't particularly like Fumino's "I'll introduce an antagonist each volume to move things along" technique, but like her editor, I'm happy to see the romance part of this progressing。 。。。more

This is volume 1 of Limit a follow up to the popular I Hear the Sunspot。 This novel delves more into Kohei and Taichi's relationship as well as the challenges of deafness in a hearing world。 The story is well done and it's delightful to see the protagonists grow closer and share more of their struggles。 What remains frustrating is that while Kohei is fully committed to the relationship, Taichi seems reluctant to fully embrace it。 It is like he's still struggling to accept his feelings for anothe This is volume 1 of Limit a follow up to the popular I Hear the Sunspot。 This novel delves more into Kohei and Taichi's relationship as well as the challenges of deafness in a hearing world。 The story is well done and it's delightful to see the protagonists grow closer and share more of their struggles。 What remains frustrating is that while Kohei is fully committed to the relationship, Taichi seems reluctant to fully embrace it。 It is like he's still struggling to accept his feelings for another man and what this means。 This is one of the odd things I've noticed with Japanese stories around same-sex relationships, the characters act like they're the first person to ever have this feelings and it's completely incomprehensible to them。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this manga。 It’s a great homosexual acceptance and deaf awareness one。 I love the two main characters where they are opposites as Kohei is mellow and Taichi is energetic。 Kohei is a little deaf and developed feelings towards Taichi。 [Update: I haven’t read the prequels yet]

Kouhei and Taichi haven’t spent a lot of time together because they’ve been working on their own thing: Taichi’s learned a little more sign language in the company he’s working for and Kouhei’s still in college, getting his degree。 Still, at the beginning of the volume we see them exchange a few kisses and how they slowly fall for each other。 Yet, relationships are never easy and for someone with a disability it can get discouraging because no one wants to be a burden nor wants to be dated out o Kouhei and Taichi haven’t spent a lot of time together because they’ve been working on their own thing: Taichi’s learned a little more sign language in the company he’s working for and Kouhei’s still in college, getting his degree。 Still, at the beginning of the volume we see them exchange a few kisses and how they slowly fall for each other。 Yet, relationships are never easy and for someone with a disability it can get discouraging because no one wants to be a burden nor wants to be dated out of pity。 For me, seeing them grow and do stuff on their own is actually quite a real experience。 Sometimes college and work take a lot of our time but when we’re with our s/o we share the experience。 Sometimes just talking about your day with someone can ease the pain and make you forget about the stress you’re feeling。 It all comes down to how you communicate your feelings and how you really want to spend your life with someone。On the other hand, we get introduced to a couple of new characters who show us different perspectives of a handicap person, which reminds me that everybody is different and assuming someone needs help is the worst thing you can do。 You should always ask before and make sure that person is OK with your company。 Anyway, there is a bit of drama, of course, but I think it is well managed。 I fully support Kouhei and Taichi being together so I hope they get to talk their insecurities out。 PREVIOUS REVIEWS:Volume 1 | Volume 2 。。。more

I’m not going to label this as a spoiler as I feel it’s an important discussion and warning to fellow readers。 So this is gonna be a bit of a rant but what are book reviews of not emotional? This volume takes the progress it made, the kindness and empathy for disabled people and poisons it。 Specifically two parts in the manga straight up disgusted me, as a fellow disabled person。 Though I am not hard of hearing, I feel a lot of the mangas experiences can be related to anyone with a disability or I’m not going to label this as a spoiler as I feel it’s an important discussion and warning to fellow readers。 So this is gonna be a bit of a rant but what are book reviews of not emotional? This volume takes the progress it made, the kindness and empathy for disabled people and poisons it。 Specifically two parts in the manga straight up disgusted me, as a fellow disabled person。 Though I am not hard of hearing, I feel a lot of the mangas experiences can be related to anyone with a disability or chronic illness。 So coming across a plot point where Taichi is told off by his superiors for attempting to help a deaf girl really hit me。 Tai is told not to help said girl and instead let her find her own way with her ableist colleagues “otherwise she’ll never learn。” So rather than teach society and her fellow employees how to kindly change and treat the deaf girl with the respect she deserves, they’re suggesting instead she bend and struggle and mould herself to fit in with her hearing colleagues。 Disabled people have to spend every single changing to fir into an able bodied world。 We’re aliens on your planet, barely allowed to exist。 And in unfathomable suffering, I’m supposed to change and suffer more so I don’t make it awkward for others? Fuck that。 The second horrifying plot point is the introduction of a new deaf character, who is pretty much villain-ised from the moment he appears。 He is often depicted as shocking and dark, almost devilish, as he tries to convince Kohei to embrace is disability and learn to enjoy life even if he is losing his hearing。 Later, he tells Kohei to break up with Taichi because as an able bodied person he will never know his struggles。 Shorty advice but not exactly toxic behaviour。 The breaking point for me came when this new deaf character offers his hand as he asks Kohei to embrace his disability and join his community, living out loud as a deaf person and no longer compromising for others。 And this is drawn with shadowy outlines, a manic grin and a horrified look from Kohei。 So self love, denying ableism and being apart of a marginalised community is now bad? I fucking can’t with these healthy people。 I’m furious and very upset that a manga that was previously so understanding and kind has turned into another ableist inspiration porn piece。 I’m sick of being misunderstood at this point。 If you want to read a good disability rep manga, go read Perfect World and save yourself the heartbreak。 。。。more

Limit is the sequel series to the original I Hear the Sunspot。 It is a good follow-up which introduces new characters and new challenges in the relationship between quiet Kohei (who is hear of hearing) and loud, exuberant Taichi。

🌟⭐ 9 stars out of 10 ⭐🌟The quality of the story is getting better and the story expanded, introducing us more to Deaf community。 There are some cliche/ common tropes but those didn't disturb my enjoyment of reading。 I'm not really sure about the representations though。 As someone outside Deaf and hearing difficulty community, I don't know whether the representations are good or not。 That aside, I'm still looking forward to read the next book! Keywords: manga, romance, slice of life, shounen ai/ L 🌟⭐ 9 stars out of 10 ⭐🌟The quality of the story is getting better and the story expanded, introducing us more to Deaf community。 There are some cliche/ common tropes but those didn't disturb my enjoyment of reading。 I'm not really sure about the representations though。 As someone outside Deaf and hearing difficulty community, I don't know whether the representations are good or not。 That aside, I'm still looking forward to read the next book! Keywords: manga, romance, slice of life, shounen ai/ LGBT (gay), hearind impairment, Deaf community 。。。more

I liked the new characters introduced and I thought the conflict between Taichi and Kohei was realistic。 (view spoiler)[ Kohei and Taichi haven't talked about what they are, if they are officially dating, if they are exclusive。。。 so it's only natural that they feel they cannot make demands or talk honestly about their feelings。 I just wish they talked and told each other what they want。 (hide spoiler)] I liked the new characters introduced and I thought the conflict between Taichi and Kohei was realistic。 (view spoiler)[ Kohei and Taichi haven't talked about what they are, if they are officially dating, if they are exclusive。。。 so it's only natural that they feel they cannot make demands or talk honestly about their feelings。 I just wish they talked and told each other what they want。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Getting to the meat and challenges of the main relationship/friendship, we get lots of good character development here。 We're getting passed the days of discovery and uncertainty to more of having to answer direct questions and looking forward。 I'm eager to see where Fumino goes in the continuation of the Limit story。 Getting to the meat and challenges of the main relationship/friendship, we get lots of good character development here。 We're getting passed the days of discovery and uncertainty to more of having to answer direct questions and looking forward。 I'm eager to see where Fumino goes in the continuation of the Limit story。 。。。more

I really liked this one, and enjoyed the sweet relationship between the characters, but it's not the first book in the series, so I always felt like I was missing something。 Fortunately that's an issue that is easy to fix! Hmm didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first two。 The story was ok。。。 but I did love seeing hints of a relationship between Maya and the film guy。 I wished we could see their complete encounter from the second book where he walks her home after she cries。 Hope to see more of them in the next one!

There is waaaaaaay too much push and pull in this manga for me。 Like I prefer cute and hot yaoi of shounen-ai but this is not cute and hot it’s not even a love story really。 Obviously the author tries to make it a love story but its kinda just like their friends who think they have feelings for each other and that about sums up the first 2 books。 Theres really no progress。
